Foundational Strength Screen | Core, Stability, Coordination & Balance

Most injuries and performance plateaus trace back to basic movement quality nobody ever actually measured — not fitness, not strength in the gym sense, but whether your core holds under load, whether one leg controls a squat as well as the other, whether your ankle has the range your sport needs. This is a 12-test functional screen across movement control, mobility, core stability and strength, scored left and right independently so asymmetries can’t hide behind a combined number. You’ll leave with a full written report and a personalised corrective exercise plan targeting exactly what it found.

What you’ll get:
– A full written report scoring all 12 tests (Green/Amber/Red), left and right where applicable
– One overall functional readiness score
– A personalised corrective exercise plan — specific drills matched to each imbalance or weakness the screen actually found, not generic advice
– A baseline to track against if you move on to a sport-specific screen later

Description

Most athletes have never been screened for the fundamentals — not “can you lift heavy,” but “does your body actually control the basic patterns everything else is built on.” A weak single-leg squat, a core that can’t resist rotation, an ankle that won’t dorsiflex — these show up as injuries or plateaus long before anyone measures them directly. This screen measures them directly, first.

Twelve tests across four domains:

– Movement & coordination — single-leg balance, single-leg squat control, step-down control, walking lunge pattern. How well you actually control your joints through a movement, not just whether you can complete it.
– Mobility — weight-bearing ankle dorsiflexion, hip flexor length (Thomas test), hamstring length (active straight leg raise). The three ranges of motion most likely to quietly limit everything downstream.
– Core / postural stability — side plank, bird dog, dead bug. Whether your core actually resists extension and rotation under load, not just whether you can hold a plank.
– Functional strength — single-leg calf raise capacity, bodyweight split squat capacity. The basic strength foundation everything more advanced gets built on.

Every bilateral test is scored left and right independently, not as one combined number — a real side-to-side difference is exactly the kind of thing a combined score hides, and it’s often the actual finding that matters.

Each test is rated Green / Amber / Red, rolled up into one overall weighted readiness score, with any Amber or Red result tied directly to a specific corrective exercise prescription — not generic advice, but the drill matched to the exact limiter this screen found.

This is the foundation screen: sport-specific versions (running, swimming, cycling) add further tests on top of this same base, so this is also the natural starting point before any of those.

Session length: 1 hour (bodyweight and timed-hold tests, no equipment-heavy setup)

What you’ll get

– Scored results (Green/Amber/Red) for all 12 tests, left and right where applicable
– One overall functional readiness score
– Targeted corrective exercise prescriptions for anything flagged
– A baseline to track against if you move on to a sport-specific screen later
