Reawaken Your Stabilizers. Break Free From Single-Plane Restrictions. Protect Your Structure.

Whether you are an aging adult looking to preserve independent mobility, or a dedicated athlete hitting a frustrating performance plateau, your body has a hidden vulnerability: the systematic shutdown of your stabilizer muscles. As we age or lock ourselves into repetitive, single-plane sports (like running, cycling, or rowing), supporting structures like the gluteus medius, deep core, and foot rotators go dormant. When these stabilizers turn off, your “prime movers” (like your lower back, hamstrings, and IT bands) are forced to handle load dynamics they were never designed to manage. The result is identical across all populations: chronic joint strain, kinetic power leaks, and a high risk of injury or falls. Our Dynamic Stability assessment uses research-grade Vicon Blue Trident inertial sensors to map your multi-directional balance and tracking in real time. We pinpoint exactly where your nervous system has cut off communication to your supporting cast, giving you the precise functional exercises to reactivate them. Includes 3D inertial stability mapping, multi-plane balance scoring, and a targeted 12-week stabilizer activation roadmap.

The Shared Crisis: The Athletic Illusion vs. The Aging Reality

We tend to think of fall prevention for older adults and athletic performance for competitors as two completely different disciplines. In the lab, we know they are caused by the exact same neurological breakdown: the amnesia of stabilizer muscles. For the Serious Athlete: If you spend hours running, cycling, or lifting in a straight forward-and-back line (the sagittal plane), your brain streamlines movement by turning down the volume on your lateral stabilizers, such as the gluteus medius. Your massive prime movers (gluteus maximus, quads, and hamstrings) try to take over the job of stabilization. Because they aren’t designed for this, your pelvis drops, your knees cave inwardly, power leaks sideways, and you develop chronic IT band syndrome, runner’s knee, or Achilles strains. You are essentially putting an F1 engine inside a chassis with loose lug nuts. For the Aging Adult or Hiker: Daily movement naturally narrows over time. Shuffling or walking strictly in straight lines causes the brain’s proprioception (spatial awareness) to decline. When an unexpected lateral movement occurs — a slip on wet grass, an uneven cobblestone, or stepping off a curb—the stabilizer muscles fail to fire instantly, resulting in a sudden loss of balance, joint injury, or a dangerous fall.

The Dynamic Stability Diagnostic Protocol

This 45-minute neuro-mechanical scan maps how your nervous system coordinates stability outside of a perfectly straight, predictable line:

Phase 1: Foundational Proprioceptive Testing
We evaluate your base sensory feedback loops using single-leg stance variances and closed-eye balance protocols. This unmasks how cleanly your eyes, inner ear, and lower-limb joints communicate positional information straight back to your brain.

Phase 2: 3D Inertial Multi-Plane Stress (Vicon Blue Trident)

While performing functional, multi-directional movements (rotational patterns, lateral lunges, and stepping matrices scaled entirely to your current fitness level), medical-grade Vicon Blue Trident sensors attached to your limbs track micro-instabilities down to the millisecond. The software measures your exact joint sway and angular velocity. If your knee wobbles inward or your hip hitches sideways, the sensors instantly catch the exact micro-second your stabilizers failed and your primary muscles had to violently step in to save the joint.

Reactivating Your Supporting Cast: The Benefits

Once your unique stability signature is mapped, we build a customized, low-impact functional stability routine to achieve two goals:

For Athletes (The Performance Unlock): By waking up the gluteus medius and pelvic stabilizers, your primary movers no longer have to waste energy keeping you balanced. They can focus 100% of their output on generating pure forward power, instantly boosting your speed and economy.

For Longevity (The Protective Shield): Training your stabilizers to fire automatically upon an unexpected change in direction allows your body to catch itself during a slip or trip, reducing joint wear and keeping you independent and active.

What’s Included in Your Assessment

Comprehensive 45-Minute Dynamic Stability Slot: Full lab access to our balance and high-fidelity inertial sensor suites.

Vicon Blue Trident 3D Balance Tracking: Advanced motion telemetry mapping structural sway, joint deviation, and micro-instabilities.

Multi-Plane Kinetic Evaluation: Analysis of your movement mechanics outside of a straight line, identifying hidden structural weak links.

High-Speed Slow-Motion Video Overlay: Clear visual reference of your alignment, hip drops, or ankle rolling under balance strain.

The 12-Week Stabilizer Activation & Mobility Blueprint: A personalized corrective exercise plan featuring highly targeted functional strength movements to wake up sleeping muscle groups, take the strain off overworked muscles, and restore youthful, athletic balance.

Important Session Preparation Rules

Footwear Standard: Athletes should bring their primary training shoes or racing flats. Older adults and hikers should bring the footwear they wear most frequently in daily life or out on walks.

What to Wear: Comfortable exercise clothing. Shorts are highly recommended so we can place the Vicon Blue Trident sensors directly onto your lower limb landmarks and track knee alignment clearly on video.

Physical Readiness: This assessment is completely scalable. Whether you are a competitive marathoner looking to unblock raw speed or an older adult focused on daily stability, the test is custom-fit to your baseline capacity, ensuring a highly accurate and completely safe lab experience.
